About

Howdy. Musical Toys, one of my Toms.Toys collection is… well, its pretty clear. Experiments with sound, web audio apis, and the goal of creating some abstract tools for music making.

I have no real musical training, outside of a little bit of piano theroy, so am also using it as a vessel for knowledge. Understandably, I’m certain that there are pieces, instruments, buttons, keys that are somehow a little bit off. If you find, them, be sure to email me at toymaker@toms.toys. Or just let them be.

Realistically, as the site has evolved, I’ve found that I’m kinda trying to jam a mix between visual and sound, using whatever patterns, algo’s and other cheeky computer science history I run into.

So yeah, here’s a few little bounding dot points, don’t judge me too hard, dont take it too seriously, and enjoy!

  • Built for curiosity, not expertise
  • Each toy is a different way to play with sound
  • Simple rules, surprising results
  • Make a tune and share it with a friend
  • Trying to revisit old toys at different points, and welcome to feedback, ideas, and suggestions!
