Gravity Drops

Drops of Jupiter in her hair.

Yeah, this one started visually more than musically, which I think is very clear when the initial load isn’t something super musical. I tried to time it out for a twinkle twinkle little star, but couldnt get the timing right. If someone wants to send me one, I’ll make it the initial load and share it here.

Place bars on the canvas, and droppers below. As they hit, they’ll play.

Added an option so you can see “into the future” and know where your ball will go. they should theoretically persist until they’re well off the screen, so can send them a long way down if you keep adding pieces!

I kinda think this can be expanded into a much larger art-esque experiment, with a zoomed out view, or honestly just tiny tiny balls/bars in a much larger canvas. Something for me to think about if an interactive space ever appears.

  • Canvas-based physics with gravity and bounce damping
  • Line-sphere collision detection for ball-bar interactions
  • PolySynth with swappable instruments: synth, pluck, marimba, bass
  • Bar length maps to octave — short bars play high, long bars play low
  • Double-click bars to override the octave
  • Draw bars and place droppers with the mouse
  • Zoom, pan, and shareable URL state
