Snapegiator
Well, as we know from the previous experiments, I’ve been trying to work towards a “game-like” experience. This is my best go-of-ot so far. Snake with music is an understandable first step into this area, but if I’m honest, it’s probably my third of fourth go at it, and the first one that isn’t complete garbage.
Every block you collect adds a note to your sequence.r As you move, the arp walks through your body playing each segment’s pitch and instrument. Turning creates sustained chords, which felt like a solid “as I am travelling down the path to the dot, I can create a new tone”. A bunch of settings in here, which were mostly for me trying to find any degree of cohesive sound. There’s something cool here, in the right hands.
You can also re-eat your own parts, to slim your snake down, or remove tones you don’t like in the larger pattern.
There’s a few special blocks in there, that should semi-drastically alter your sound, shifting octaves, or your arp patterns.
I honestly walked through a mountain of different ideas and variations that ended us here, and I was happy or unhappy with such a large amount of them, but as I’ve expressed before, creating the cohesion still seems to illude me.
Oh, and a bunch of “feats” which is new for musical toys, and something I also hope to walk towards on the game front, just to get you experimenting and fiddling around!
